WWE BACKLASH 2024, Backlash France
After Backlash 2023 erupted from San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico, the book has closed on WWE Backlash 2024, and the results are in for the promotion’s first Premium Live Event in France and its first Backlash outside of North America. Fans may anticipate many more afternoon start times, beyond the next King and Queen of the Ring show from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and WWE’s 2024 Clash at the Castle event to originate from Glasgow, Scotland, if the boisterous Lyon audience is any indication of WWE’s market potential in Europe.
Four title defenses were present on the five-match Backlash 2024 schedule, however not all of them were successful. Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest, who each won their championships at WrestleMania 40, faced off against Jey Uso and AJ Styles, respectively, to defend their crowns. Both men’s world titles were on the line. In a triple threat match against Naomi and Tiffany Stratton, Bayley risked losing the WWE Women’s Title, and the Kabuki Warriors had to contend with opponents like Bianca Belair and relative WWE newbie Jade Cargill.
